I have heard it said that many many pilots had an inseparable love affair with their glamor girls of the skies. She (the Spitfire) could be graceful, agile and become one with her pilot. Once she became one with her pilot they could dance the tango of the skies and would become a formidable union.
A Lover Scorned
Many an unsuspecting German pilot would feel the crippling blows as she spat her fury into their frames. Hell hath no fury like a woman and her lover scorned and attacked. She could pack 8 multiple firing blows of spitting fury ripping apart the frames of her aggressors and sending them to their ultimate demise. How dare they invade their love affair and disrupt their heavenly tangos.
Pilots Remember
Sadly as many pilots have grown older and fewer those that remain have attended airshows and reunited with their lovers from of the skies and days gone by and that sparkle in their eyes returns and their smiles fill up there faces.
